The Office of Research Services (ORS) is a central department within KAUST tasked with providing administrative, financial and contractual support to faculty in acquiring external funding. ORS helps to obtain or participate in externally-funded projects and manages externally and internally sponsored research projects (typically funded by public bodies, foundations and industries; but also the KAUST component of any OCRF applications).
All faculty must submit their external research funding applications through the ORS.As such the ORS is the central point of contact for faculty to establish & manage their funded research projects.
The ORS services to faculty include:
- Advice on funding opportunities and the requirements of sponsors
- Developing relationships with potential sponsors to identify their future funding priorities
- Maintaining intelligence on the funding landscape
- Assistance to faculty with developing proposals
- Ensuring bids are compliant with KAUST and sponsor rules
- Advice/assistance on costing and pricing of proposals
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts
- Advising faculty on the terms of awards
- Monitoring compliance with the terms of awards including the submission of deliverables

The ORS works in partnership with the Provost, the Vice-President for Research, colleagues in HR and Finance as well as General Counsel and the Technology Transfer Office (TTI) to provide comprehensive support to faculty throughout the research lifecycle.
